Description : I printed the photo directly onto a sheet of Core’dinations white (Snowflake) cardstock and I love the almost canvas pattern effect it gave the photo! The cardstock worked beautifully and now of course I want to get myself an entire stack of their white cardstock so I can print several more pictures on cardstock. I was already thinking about how cool it would be to print out a black and white photo onto cardstock and then color it with paints, distress stains, markers, etc…

I backed the cardstock photo with some pretty patterned paper, and added some rub on bling from Basic Grey. But I also wanted to keep the embellishments somewhat dark and messy to go along with the theme of the page, so I colored some Studio Calico wooden butterflies with black distress ink, and I used an edge distresser along the outside of the patterned paper with lot’s of mini staples. I used black thread in my sewing machine – but kept a turquoise thread in the bobbin so when I sewed on the page you could actually see a little of the turquoise peeking through. (Okay, so maybe I actually just did that because I was too lazy to change the bobbin thread…but in the end my laziness resulted in one of those happy creative accidents and it looked really cool!) To complete the page, I pulled a little of the thread back out after sewing, left some thread hanging, and journaled around my photo.
